Workshops Throughout my professional career as a portrait painter, I have been influenced by several teachers who have contributed to the development of my picture-vision of a portrait, but without doubt John Howard Sanden is my most recent and decisive influence when I am conceiving a portrait. John Howard Sanden, considered one of the best portrait painter in America, has his studio in New York and is the teacher of teachers. Along with Elizabeth R. Sanden , they are pioneers in the teaching of portrait techniques. Their influence in the end result of my work painting from life portraits has become very noticeable over the last four years. They uphold the bold, direct styles of the first strokes of the great teachers suh as Velázquez, Sargent, Hals, Sorolla, etc. Jonh Howard Sanden is the founder, amongst his other projects, of Portrait Clubs of America and Current Classes and after having seen my work I was accredited to be able to teach portrait painting. Thanks to this accreditation I now impart classes on portrait technique using both pastels and oil paints at en la A. V. GLOXINIA C/.Nueva, s/n Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife were I can pass on to others Mr. Sanden´s teachings. Learning to paint has always been one of our favourite pastimes. It is something you can begin to do whenever you wish and at any age (Winston Churchill and President Eisenhower learned to paint during their retirement). Painting a landscape can be fun and still-life is worth doing too, but painting a portrait is the best there is!. My classes are made up of small groups and you are going to love painting! If you would like to attend my classes but do not live in Tenerife you could attend one of my three-monthly workshops comprising 3 days (7 hours per day) of intensive training: 11:00 - 2:00 p.m. a demostratión of a real- life portrait done in oils. 2.00p.m. - 3.00p.m. lunch break and from 3.00p.m. - 6.00p.m. a chance for students to follow through and put into practice the mornings´tuition.
